Dallas Zoo

Yesterday we headed to the Dallas Zoo with my brother, Michael, and his family so his wife, Trixie could maybe get some sleep in (she just had a baby last week), and the kids had a great time.

I was excited, because I have been having SeaWorld with drawls and needed to see some animals. I was pretty impressed with this Zoo, I don't know if it was because it was cloudy and a cooler day, but all the animals were out and we actually got to see a lot of animals.

My favorite part was probably the giraffes, they have a really cool set up that you can feed the giraffes so they are right there to pet, it was pretty sweet!

Than we also got to see the workers train with the lions so we had a great view, Thomas was a little nervous....

The kids had more fun with the jeep and the sculptors, not the cool animals, you gotta love kids.

and I guess Dustin also had a little fun with the sculptures...

The chimpanzees were pretty cool too, the one sitting is 56 years old! CrAzy!

It was a lot of fun that day, the weather was perfect and it wasn't super crowded and we got to see some cool animals!

Thoughts of a Mother of Two

O the joys of motherhood...

Don't get me wrong, I love being a mother, but there are some days better than others. 

For the most part the transition of having one child to two has been pretty easy. 

But there are some days I wonder why I signed up for this.

Here are just a few of my thoughts:

I swear every time I'm nursing Thomas is in some type of disaster, gets hurt, or needs me that exact moment.

When I go to the grocery store I feel like I need two carts because about time two kids are in the cart and 2 boxes of diapers my cart is pretty much full.

Why do they cry at the same time?

With just Thomas, things just took longer to get done, now I feel like I get nothing done.

It took my three days to finally post this blog post. 

Between feeding both kids, changing diapers I have already put an eight hour day.

Oliver wakes up at sunrise that when I finally put him down again that's when Thomas wakes up- Every time

I haven't had a stretch of sleep more than 2 hours at a time for 6 weeks now. If Oliver has a long stretch of feeding {5hours} Thomas wakes up crying during that time.

Oliver  likes to be held all the time so nothing gets done, but I really don't mind holding him.

I don't know how many iron mans, lions, wolverines, trains I have had to draw for Thomas.

I still haven't lost the last 15 pounds, and I'm getting a little frustrated. So all you more than one time moms how did you lose it? With Thomas  I lost all the weight the first week, than lost additional ten pounds with doing nothing. I just started exercising this week so hopefully things start moving a long. 

Trying to lose the weight, but I'm always hungry and I don't want to eat less for fear of losing my milk supply, especially now I'm exercising. I probably don't need to worry the way I have been going, the freezer is full of extra milk at the moment. 

Feeling guilty all the time. I feel guilty that I don't get to spend as much time with Thomas, I feel like I'm always feeding Oliver. Feeling guilty getting after Thomas more, sometimes I feel like I'm being too hard on him, but than other times I feel like I need to step it up and raise him to be a decent grown up one day. Wondering if he is just being a typical 2 year old and throwing tantrums, or me lacking at my parental skills.

Knowing that this is the greatest work, and these days will pass and I will miss it. 

I love my two boys even though there are times I want to pull my hair out, I'm so grateful for them!

The Little Artist

A little update on Thomas. 

Thomas is getting so big, I look at him and wonder when did my baby turn into a big kid?

Thomas is such a boy, the first picture just explains him so well. His Iron man toy (well it's actually Dustin's) right there with him, wearing a super hero shirt, and drawing. Thomas is really into super heros and ninja turtles, and is drawing every day, and several times a day, and he's is getting really good and I can't help but get excited over it and I love watching him draw.

My mom said when I was 2 I was already drawing shapes and holding a pencil correctly, well, I think Thomas has me beat, he can draw faces, and lions now. I can tell him to draw something and a lot of times he tempts it and it pretty successful for a 2 year old. I'm really excited to see how far he goes with art. 

Here is a picture of him copying my o-so-amazing lion. They aren't perfect but I think they are great!

Another little update with Thomas, last week, he got his first major injury, well I don't know if you call it major, but I was freaking out. We were at a play group when some kids were rough housing and a candle stick or some home decor thing landed on his head and cut his head open. I was freaking out, I don't handle blood very well. The poor kid, was already having a rough day. But luckily some moms came to my rescue and we super glued it shut (it wasn't a big cut) that way we didn't have to go to the hospital and get stitches. He's doing fine, but I hate seeing any of my kids in pain.

Thomas has been such a good big brother this last month, and I have a feeling he will be a great help in the future.

One Month Old

Sunday Oliver turned one month. It has been a quick month but we can't imagine life without him.

He is already smiling and is losing what hair he had when he was born, unlike Thomas who had a lots of hair. 

He's pretty good at holding his head when he wants to.

He's such a sweet spirit and we love him so much.

Outing with Great-Grandpa Hayden

I'm very behind in blogging. I have a little critter that won't let me put him down awake or sleep so rarely I have time or hands to do anything these days. 

Two weeks ago Thomas and Dustin went with great-grandpa Hayden to the flight museum. Thomas loved it, he also got to see the only flying B-29 Superfortess left in the world. the airplane was used during WW2.

I know we will cherish these pictures always, thank you grandpa.

Happy Valentine's Day

Here are some pictures from my Valentine photo shoot, I didn't quite get the pictures that I wanted, again, Thomas was not interested in taking pictures, probably because I make him do it almost everyday ha ha. So I got some good ones of Oliver. So the other day I gave Thomas a sucker so I could get some more of him to put on the card, and that kinda work... anyway enjoy.

Than I took a picture of all the valentine decor I made while trying to stay busy to make time go by fast before Oliver arrived. I made the wreath, all the balls, the banner, and the be mine valentine sign.

Sunday Afternoon

Here are some pictures we took Sunday afternoon.  I realized I didn't have any pictures of Dustin with just Oliver so I wanted to take a few, and Dustin took a few of me as well, I haven't lost all the pregnancy weight just so you guys know ;) it does take LONGER to come off the second round... anyway. I wish there were more with Thomas but he's not really interested in sitting and taking pictures so the only ones I get are when he's not realizing it. Anyway, I have a lot to blog/pictures about but I'm running behind... guess I'm still getting used to having two boys and finding the time. 

So hopefully I will be posting a lot this week and get all caught up.
